Home > Gerd-achalasia
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Achalasia are conditions triggered by heartburn. Although both conditions have similar signs, they have different origin points. With GERD the door connecting the oesophagus to the stomach does not close at the correct time whereas in the case of Achalasia it does not open timely. The treatment for both conditions will vary. GERD can be resolved with weight loss, dietary changes and medications. To treat Achalasia, you may have to undergo Heller myotomy surgery. Read on to find out more.

Is it covered under insurance?
Is the treatment covered under insurance?
The Insurance plan varies from one company to another. Assuming that the Gerd treatment will be covered under insurance would be wrong. It is advised to talk to the insurance provider before going to hospital or clinic for Gerd treatment.
How is the recovery after surgery?
Typically, people spend 1–3 days in the hospital after GERD surgery. The inpatient stay allows doctors to monitor the person. A person can leave the hospital if they can eat, drink, and swallow without problems and are not experiencing any side effects
