About Influenza Injection

Influenza Injection is a vaccine that helps protect you from influenza, also known as the flu. It works by exposing your body to a small dose of the flu virus, which helps your immune system develop immunity against the disease. This vaccination is given as an injection into a muscle by a doctor or nurse, usually just before the cold season when the flu virus becomes more prevalent.

One injection of the Influenza vaccine is typically sufficient to protect you for a year. It is important to get vaccinated annually because new strains of the flu virus constantly emerge, and different vaccines are developed to combat them. This vaccine is especially crucial for elderly individuals and those with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is also recommended for young children over 6 months of age.

While the Influenza Injection can cause mild side effects such as headache, muscle pain, weakness, tiredness, and pain at the injection site, it is still advisable to get vaccinated as it is much safer than contracting the flu. These side effects are usually temporary and do not last long. However, if any side effects persist or concern you, it is important to consult your doctor.

Before receiving the vaccine, inform your doctor if you have a high temperature or have had an allergic reaction to a vaccine in the past. Additionally, discuss any other medications you are taking, as some drugs may interact with the flu vaccine. It is important to note that while the vaccination may not fully protect everyone, it can help reduce the severity of flu symptoms if you do get infected. However, it will not prevent illnesses such as avian flu (bird flu) or the common cold. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before receiving the Influenza Injection.
